This morning my roomie Rachel and I went to The Museum of the City of New York. Interesting, though not very large...
Afterward I headed to Times Square to meet Angela. The plan was to get rush/discount tickets for Mamma Mia! Supposedly they sell them cheap if you are buying the left-overs day of the show. Unfortunately it began another downpour as we made our way to 51st and Broadway. Luckily I had my umbrella with me but it was hardly helpful with the insane wind blowing. When we finally made it to the ticket counter we were turned away. No tickets. What luck, right? It was still raining so we decided it was time for lunch and ran into the nearest diner, Ellen's Stardust Diner. Literally next door and what a diner it turned out to be. ALL OF THE WAIT STAFF SINGS! The whole time you are there. It turned out to be this 50's throw-back diner and the criteria for working there is you must be able to sing really well. Throughout your meal you listen to the constant karaoke-ing of the waiters & waitresses. Angela and I could hardly believe it. I mean, what are the odds that the nearest place to grab a bite is such a place??? The food wasn't awesome, but it provided us both with quite a few laughs and awkward facial exchanges.
Turned out that the reason all the wait staff sings/entertains is because they are all Broadway hopefuls. Made the whole experience a little less annoying and more understandable. All in all, I probably won't ever forget Ellen's.

I am so ready to make the fastest tour of New York in history. I'll see everything in 48 hours.
