A fun brief of my days in New York City!

"i know your blog!"

This blog is simply to describe my slight mortification today when my hilarious boss Jen described her current awareness of my blog...

Of course, the thought had crossed my mind, but since nothing had ever been said I assumed my blog was too insignificant to get frequent hits from anyone at LIME! It was really great when the rest of the PR circle persisted to ask for my blog address. I didn't mind at all sharing it, until my supervisor JO came to my desk a little while later to inform me that I had originally called her "jill" in my blog. BIG OOPS. Not only did I feel terrible, but considering she's like the best boss I've ever had my stomach really did a flip. So glad she laughed it off, but again, I'm sorry, Jo (...don't hate me?)!

So, the rest of the day. Happy Hour Happy Birthday for Thomas and Wells with some of the other interns (not everyone made it out):
Left to Right: Aaron, Wells, Charlie, Thomas, Ashwin, & Joy (sorry I cut you out a bit!)

Me (still don't know what I'm gazing at) and Ash

Just for you Mommy: office building & street. Kinda hard to get a good shot from the same street corner but I will try to remember sometime in the future when I have a better angle to go on. It's quite a pretty building when you can actually see it!

Supervisor ShoutOut

This post is for one very special person. JO (not Jill...)!
You know who you are ;)

tangent:

I would simply like to say that for all of you who question my style of blog layout I apologize. I too think it looks weird. Anyone who knows me knows I am rather particular. I have yet to figure out why blogspot.com insists on jumbling up my format when I click publish post. Blogspot.com apparently isn't a perfectionist!

Yanks! Yael!

Yesterday the group headed to a Yankees game! It was an absolutely beautiful day, a little hot, but I know that 90 isn't that bad so I enjoyed myself. The first shot is from our seats in the stadium, we were in the cheap seats (bleachers!), but still had a great view of the stadium. Perhaps you already know this, but perhaps not; this is the final season for the Yankees in this stadium. Not gonna lie, it could use an update.

Notice the tiiiiiny plane in the left hand corner. There were planes going overhead constantly. I actually didn't even notice it till I posted the picture.

Below is a pic of myself, Ashley, and Becky on our way out. This was of course after we enjoyed some baseball style nachos, frozen lemonade, and a hearty shout of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Lots of fun for sure!

Aside: Ashley is the fabulous young lady that I also intern with at Kirshenbaum + Bond. We go waaaaaaaaaay back :)

As we were about to hop on the 4 we turned around and noticed that the new Yankee's Stadium was right behind us! Clearly it's not yet completed, but it sure is pretty! Unfortunately this was the best shot I was able to snap from the subway.

Yay for Baseball!

The rest of the day consisted of a well-earned nap, gym, dinner at Mumbles (the name still makes me laugh a bit), and a nice relaxing movie in Chelsea. It was a good day.

Then Sunday came along...very relaxing Sunday. Ashley and I took a fantastic discovery walk. We have found these are very good for exercise and helping us find/remember things around the city. Then a good ole work out, some reading, then dinner at Barbournia (Turkish/Mediterranean deliciousness), and a free Yael Naim concert at Central Park. Lovely.

hahaha

Last night my girl Angela and I hit Borgo Antico for dinner. We headed over there around 8 only to be bombarded by the storm that decided to happen as we were leaving. Taking a cab does the trick though. The restaurant was so pretty and the food was delicious! Angela and I had a really good time and filled our tummies to the brim. If you're ever in Manhattan looking for village italian, I strongly recommend Borgo. Just don't be surprised when the waiter keeps repeating himself because he thinks you don't understand him, when it's really that he doesn't understand your English. This place is authentic Italian!

This morning my roomie Rachel and I went to The Museum of the City of New York. Interesting, though not very large...

Afterward I headed to Times Square to meet Angela. The plan was to get rush/discount tickets for Mamma Mia! Supposedly they sell them cheap if you are buying the left-overs day of the show. Unfortunately it began another downpour as we made our way to 51st and Broadway. Luckily I had my umbrella with me but it was hardly helpful with the insane wind blowing. When we finally made it to the ticket counter we were turned away. No tickets. What luck, right? It was still raining so we decided it was time for lunch and ran into the nearest diner, Ellen's Stardust Diner. Literally next door and what a diner it turned out to be. ALL OF THE WAIT STAFF SINGS! The whole time you are there. It turned out to be this 50's throw-back diner and the criteria for working there is you must be able to sing really well. Throughout your meal you listen to the constant karaoke-ing of the waiters & waitresses. Angela and I could hardly believe it. I mean, what are the odds that the nearest place to grab a bite is such a place??? The food wasn't awesome, but it provided us both with quite a few laughs and awkward facial exchanges.

Turned out that the reason all the wait staff sings/entertains is because they are all Broadway hopefuls. Made the whole experience a little less annoying and more understandable. All in all, I probably won't ever forget Ellen's.

whatta day. and it's not over yet!

Saturday has been FAB-U-LOUS!
Began with a 9:30 am bus tour of the city. Here's a handful of pics:

Ground Zero

Ground Zero Memorial

<-- Lady Liberty

If you watch ANTM you geth this one.

Pic for my parents :) The Beatles always stayed here at the Warwick when in NY

The rockettes break it down here. And the American Girl shot is for Anna & Tess!

This is for real, peeps. Gross.

And a lil bit of Central Park! Stawberry Fields Foreva (said in British accent)

We had lunch at ESPN Zone. The whole place was filled with guys watching some crazy soccer match. You would be eating your meal and then suddenly men would just starting cheering and yelling, sometimes cursing... It was quite an entertaining atmosphere.

Now it's off to dinner. I'll post my restaurant review tomorrow :)
